Planting that has to work without anyone watching it
Public planting fails for predictable reasons: species that need more water than the site will ever get, irrigation too complicated for the crew that inherits it, and beds designed for a photograph rather than for the way people actually cross the space.
We design public schemes around those constraints from the start. Species are chosen for drought, dust, salt and heat tolerance; irrigation is zoned and documented so a municipal technician can service it; and planting is set back from desire lines instead of fighting them.
