Scope
An inland site with hot dry summers, cold winters and no permanent irrigation supply, so the scheme was designed to be watered for two seasons by tanker and then left to survive unaided.
Work performed
- Slope preparation and erosion control across 15,000 m²
- 260 drought-tolerant trees including carob, cypress and olive
- Mass planting of 9,000 lantana, gazania and rosemary
- Decorative gravel and stone treatment to the central islands
- Temporary tanker-fed irrigation through establishment
Irrigation
Temporary drip network fed by tanker through the two-year establishment period, then decommissioned. Species and spacing were selected so the scheme survives on natural rainfall afterwards.
Maintenance
Two-year establishment maintenance including watering, weed control and replacement of losses, handed over to the authority with a maintenance manual.
