Scope
Every species on this site was selected against a non-toxic list, which ruled out several of the usual municipal workhorses - oleander among them - and the planting was designed around where children actually walk and gather.
Work performed
- Shade tree planting to play and assembly areas
- 210 trees including mulberry, carob and stone pine
- 4,800 m² of Bermuda turf over a reinforced base
- Teaching garden with raised beds and fruit trees
- Boundary screening with photinia and pittosporum
- Pathway edging and decorative gravel to circulation areas
Irrigation
Automatic system programmed to run outside school hours, with sub-surface lines under the play lawns so there is nothing above ground for children to catch.
Maintenance
Maintenance scheduled around the school calendar: intensive work during holidays, light weekly visits in term time.
